Our Story
Heather Saffer, the Head Cupcake at Dollop, is a self-taught baker with strong local roots. Saffer’s sweet tooth and do it yourself attitude prompted her to go into business and she did just that in 2009 when she started selling her handmade cupcakes for special events at at the Public Market. As with her cupcakes, Saffer started her business from scratch out of her dream and desire to do her own thing. In keeping with this, she decided to set her business apart and create a completely new concept in the Rochester area: a custom Cupcake Bar.
Saffer, a self-described outside the box thinker, wanted her customers to be able to have fun with the Cupcake Bar concept that truly sets Dollop apart.
"My goal is to do something different and give people the ability to create the cupcake they really want. I love customizing things since I'm so picky and I realize other people are the same way. Creativity is the key here, you think it and we'll make it."
Saffer prides her business on customer service and thrives on working with customers to make their ideas come alive. Saffer also prides her business on making all of her cupcakes from scratch.
"Anyone can buy boxed cake mix and canned frosting and whip it up in minutes but nothing tastes as good as the real made from scratch thing. Yes it's more time consuming but that's why we do it, so you don't have to! Everyone man, woman and child should know what a real cupcake tastes like!"
